Jormundgand The Midgard Serpent

Norse myths tell us that Jormungand The Midgard Serpent is a snake-like creature who lives in the ocean that surrounds Midgard. The spawn of Loki and the giantess Angrboda, he was brought back to Asgard. The gods were afraid of Jormundgand and his siblings Hel and Fenrir. Odin determined The Serpent’s fate and cast him out of Asgard into the oceans of Midgard. He has grown so enormous that his body forms a circle around the entirety of Midgard, and he bites his tail. All the sea monsters that disturb the deep are his spawn. He is also known as Ouroboros and Leviathan.

He’s one of the three children that Loki and Angrboda created. Hel, goddess of the underworld, and Fenrir the Wolf are his evil siblings. Jormundgand The Midgard Serpent is mentioned in several tales regarding Thor. In one he is magically disguised as a cat. Thor has to lift him over his head to prove his strength. In another Thor is on a fishing expedition and is almost pulled under the waves by the beast.
When Ragnarok arrives, Thor and Jormundgand The Midgard Serpent are fated to slay each other in a fierce battle.
